Who we are.
Just a small group of former infantry junior soldiers now in various walks of life ranging from a retired policemen to a published author and serving soldiers - who share the small amount of work required to keep this website up to date and interesting.
The objective is to link together all the various activities, websites and on-line forums put together by former members of the various units that trained junior soldiers for infantry regiments of the British Army until 1985 when IJLB Shorncliffe closed it's gates.
As far as we know, this includes around 20,000 boys ranging in age at enlistment from 14-17 years, as long ago as 1952 at units known as The Infantry Boys Battalion, The Infantry Junior Leaders Battalion, The Junior Infantryman's Wing and The Junior Infantryman's Battalion.
The modern day equivelant is the The Army Foundation College at Harrogate.
All the key events and points of interest are brought together in the form of an on-line newsletter, which is added to and changed, as often as it needs to be.
If you have an idea, an event or an activity you want our other members to know about or you think they might find something relevant or just amusing - send it in, the chances are it will be published either in Tales of IJLB or the Newsletter.
If you're one of us - fill in the form Here and our "Duty" member, will get back to you pronto with the passwords.
Its a trip down memory lane with words and pictures, entertaining banter and sometimes serious discussion on-line with people who all share similar experiences in their teenage years.... and the occasional gathering on land in real time.
But, more than anything else - this site is whatever it's contributors want it to become.
