One Sunday morning in June 2009, the people of Oswestry awoke to the sound of a military band and the sight of hundreds of veterans marching through their streets. In command was none other than the Garrison Sergeant Major, London District, wearing the full ceremonial uniform of the Welsh Guards.

The occasion was the IBB-IJLB Association Memorial Dedication Parade and the unveiling of a memorial to those of our number who were Killed in Action.

Despite the years of planning and organisation towards this important memorial, as little as six months after the dedication parade, we at IJLB.com received a number of criticisms from the general public. These concerned the physical structure and valid complaints pointing out grammatical errors found within the text on the memorial's plaques. As this is a permanent memorial, such concerns have to be taken seriously. How do the people of Oswestry and the wider public feel about the memorial?

For any of the 1,008 former Junior Leaders who subscribe to this newsletter but were unable to make it to the Memorial Dedication Parade, below is a link to a series of photographs shot in the snow of a Sunday morning in January 2010 at Cae Glas Park, Oswestry.
