TO...OFFICeR COMMANDING D COMPANY I.J.L.B. DATE 11TH NOVEMBER 1973 SUBJECT...FUTURE REMBERENCE DAYS Sir, I respectfully submit this, my application to invite you to consider the future. I anticipate that many years from now former ex-members of this battalion will reform via a technological development which we can scarcley comprehend now. A 'network' of computerised systems will allow the communication and the exchange of ideas and information across the globe. Even ordinary people will have to ability to contribute to the phenomenon by having Personal computers' in their own homes. They will eventually wish to parade themselves as a 'unit' on the nations annual service of remberence. I am sure that you will agree that, given the exceptional organisational abilities that will be carried forward from this unit that this will me made to happen. Maybe the ex-boy soldiers of today will consider carrying a wreath of remberence to the boy solders who died in the 'Great War'. revisionist historians of the future will reveal that thousand of teenagers under the 'legal' age for active service, lads just like us died fo their country, while a cynical government turned a blind eye to the boys who lied about their age at recruiting stations. Resulting in two and half thousand 'boy soldiers' being killed at the Somme alone. While you may have concerns over my mental health, an issue which we have spoken of before, I never-the-less believe that I have portrayed an accurate picture of the future. I am Sir,
Don Donohue...... Pete, What did the O/C say in his reply?
