I left school in 1963, at that time only just over 5ft and the brunt of a lot of bullying by one other bigger boy in particular [shaved twice a day, mature, rugby player, you get the picture] - I was desperate to get away and went truant a fair bit to get away from him.

Anyway, my Faither had completed his National Service in the Black Watch, posted in Egypt and a mixture of his tales and the heaps of photos he had decided for me I should enlist in IJLB, arrived Sept 63 at Os [bad winter that year] - I grew 9" in less than a year, went home on leave one time and waited outside High School for the "bully". I had a few pals with me, [as he had his band of followers] and my lot kept his lot from interfering - he [bully] didn't recognise me at first until I told him who I was and why I was standing in front of him - "bully me now ya b~stard" or words to that effect, he laughed until I broke his nose with the first punch and put him down with the 2nd and kept punching until he begged me to stop "no more" springs to mind - he was a mess with 2 split lips [I had one of his teeth embedded in a knuckle], black eye, broken nose and left side of his face twice the normal size.

HE never bothered me again. I know 2 wrongs don't make a right but that day I felt justified in my actions and a great weight was lifted forever......I HATE BULLYS WITH A PASSION........thought about posting this under bullying topic initially, but he was the reason I joined IJLB, so have to thank him for that.
