What I could not understand about the RSM from the Scots Guards at Shorncliffe in '81 was his sheer hate for non-Guards personnel. I was about to report on as guard commander when the RSM's bike fell over in he corridor! I got 20 extras for it falling over as I was the only non guards guy booking on for duty then he told me to put the bike in close arrest!!!!!!!!!!!.

People from shorncliffe will know its a long way to jail from RHQ so I rode it there. Another 40 extras. When I got back and speed marched into his office I did not know it had been waxed and bumpered. As I went to halt I slipped on the carpet went under his desk and knocked myself out (with a huge gash on my head). As I was still at attention he let me off the extras but I still had to clean up the blood after I had the stitches but he gave me 10 extra for dirty uniform(THE BLOOD)
